Utah County Planned Projects

MVC South (SR-73 to Redwood Road):

UDOT is preparing a State Environmental Study (SES) to evaluate a possible 10-mile extension of MVC to Redwood Road near Pelican Point. The SES intends to evaluate the long-term mobility needs of all users in the proposed project area, identify long-term solutions, engage stakeholders, and complete the document by the end of 2024. For more information, visit udotinput.utah.gov/mvcsouth.

2100 North Freeway (MVC to I-15):

Once the MVC segment between Porter Rockwell Boulevard and 2100 North has been constructed, the next phase will be to convert 2100 North to a freeway between MVC and I-15 in Lehi. Similar to MVC, new freeway lanes will be built between the existing roadways, which will become the frontage roads. This will require converting existing intersections to interchanges at MVC, 10400 West, 2300 West and I-15, and freeway crossings at Redwood Road/SR-68.

This project will improve east-west mobility between the two freeways in Northwest Utah and Salt Lake Counties and help to disperse traffic more efficiently for drivers traveling to communities within the central Utah Valley area.

MVC Freeway (2100 North - SR-73):

UDOT will construct a freeway portion of MVC between SR-73 and 2100 North. The existing northbound and southbound lanes are built to the outer edge of the right-of-way to allow for the future freeway lanes to be built in the middle. Construction will include:

  • Converting existing intersections to interchanges

  • Constructing additional lanes

A schedule has not been determined.

2100 NORTH TO PORTER ROCKWELL BOULEVARD

Construction has started on Mountain View Corridor in Utah County. The project will construct 4 new miles of freeway between Utah and Salt Lake Counties, connecting 2100 North in Lehi to Porter Rockwell Boulevard in Herriman. Improvements include:

  • Constructing four miles of new roadway

  • Creating a four-leg intersection at Porter Rockwell Boulevard

  • Upgrading the intersection at 2100 North and Redwood Road to an interchange

  • Installing wildlife fencing

  • Constructing a multi-use trail

This will be the first freeway segment of MVC constructed in Utah County. Crews are conducting preliminary work in the project area including clearing landscaping, installing temporary drainage, locating utilities and installing the temporary detour road at the southern limits.

WHAT TO EXPECT THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT:

  • Day work Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. (weekend and nightwork as needed)

  • Trucks entering and exiting the work zone

  • Increased noise, dust and vibrations

  • Traffic shifts, lane closures, detours as needed

Construction is expected to  last through early 2026.

MOUNTAIN VIEW CORRIDOR TRAFFIC SHIFT | APRIL 2024 - LATE 2024

Southbound MVC traffic has shifted to a temporary road for drivers traveling west of Redwood Road towards Saratoga Springs. The temporary road will have two lanes for approximately a quarter of a mile before it will merge into one lane, then open up to two lanes as it reaches the Harvest Moon Drive intersection.

This shift will keep traffic moving while crews construct the MVC freeway ramps. Drivers should slow down and expect delays during morning and evening commutes. This traffic shift is expected to remain in place through late 2024.

What to Expect:

  • One travel lane on the temporary road

  • Reduced speed limit (40 mph) for all drivers

  • Travel delays during morning and evening commutes

  • Night work and road closures

    • The temporary road (SB MVC) will close nightly between 10 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. for hauling operations through summer 2024.

BIKE & PEDESTRIAN DETOURS

Following the April traffic shift, the bike lane and sidewalk on southbound MVC will be closed. Bikes will be detoured to Harvest Hills Boulevard and Redwood Road and pedestrians to northbound MVC. All bike detours will remain in place throughout the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed in early 2026. The sidewalk on northbound MVC will remain open to pedestrians throughout the project.
